The LFC Blog Walk-around
Here we showcase some of the LFC's most recent built Lego fire related MOCs!
The awesome Sven is at it again! For those who haven't seen it yet, he has built a working replica of FDNY Tower Ladder 13. This outstanding model features not only a working Aerialscope boom, but also countless of decals that go around the rig. In addition, little items, such as the Stokes basket, the water cooler on the driver's side, and the gated wye all contribute to the masterful build that Sven made! About FDNY Tower Ladder 13: FDNY's Tower Ladder 13 is one of many Seagrave Aerialscopes the department operates. This particular model is a 75 foot Aerialscope. A unique feature of this rig is the horseshoe located on the grille. Tower Ladder 13 is housed with Engine 22, Battalion 10, and FDR 2 in Manhattan. About the Seagrave Aerialscope II: The Aerialscope II has been the FDNY's choice for a tower ladder due to its time tested reliability and stability over its lifetime! Although the department has tried other manufacturers such as Sutphen or a rear mount American LaFrance ladder tower, FDNY always returned to the Aerialscope for a variety of reasons. What sets the Aerialscope apart from other platforms is in its construction. Built more like a crane than a ladder, the aerial device is virtually indestructible, as many would attest. While most ladders can take out a single window, the Aerialscope can literally take out a wall! In addition, Aerialscopes are among the simplest devices to maneuver, making rescues more efficient. Another benefit the Aerialscope has to offer is that only one pair of outriggers extend out, allowing the rig to setup in tight conditions.
